Sound Healing

What is “sound healing”?

Audio

Sound (and vibrational) healing is an ancient art that has been around for thousands of years. Voice, drums, music – anything that creates sound – can be used to help align unbalanced parts of the body. This includes the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of oneself.

Every object is in a state of vibration and therefore creates sound (whether we can hear it or not). When in a state of health, any part of our body vibrates at its own resonant frequency. When it resonates at a frequency that is not harmonious, not its “normal” frequency, we call this “disease”. In sound healing, it is possible to project the “correct” frequency into a certain area to assist in returning it to its natural state of health.

The same concept applies to the “non-physical” parts of us. Acupuncture points, meridians, chakras – non-physical areas and lines of energy in and around our bodies can also be affected by sound.

These two together, the physical and non-physical, are what compose each of us as an individual being. The energy of sound (coupled with the intent to heal) is used to bring our energy back into a state of harmonious well-being.

What happens in a Harmonic Healer session?

I use sound (tuning forks, quartz crystal bowls, drums, voice, etc.) to clean and align energy in and around your body. Specific areas (physical, mental, emotional) can be addressed during the session. Sometimes a simple tune-up is what is needed (much like taking your car in for a tune-up). Although I orchestrate the session to an extent (based on my experience), I follow the energy of the healing work and simply allow it to take place. In actuality, you heal yourself. I act as a focal point for the healing energy and as a guide for you. The essence of my healing work is that this is a spiritually oriented experience.

Is there anything special you need to do or wear?

Wear comfortable clothing. The session takes place with you lying on a massage table. Most of the work is “hands-off”, although occasional touch with a weighted fork (for bone conduction or deep tissue work) may be called out. Relax. Your eyes may be kept open or closed. Be open to a new experience, if sound healing is new to you. Communicate with me – ask questions or make comments (I will do the same). You may experience sensations such as images or colors, heat or tingling. Some people fall asleep, as they are very relaxed. You might not feel much of anything. The healing work takes place whether you are awake or asleep, or whether you experience strong sensations or none at all.
